This option is for importing the Item file when you are setting up Meals PlusInventory.
It can also be used to update items and prices from a flat file.

Before you import a file, you will need a delimited file (separated by commas) that includes the following *REQUIRED* fields:
Account Category—this comes from the Account Category Setup fields under Administration: Account Category Setup.
These must be entered into the Import file exactly as it appears on the Account Category Setup screen, otherwise it will create an entirely new Account Category when the import runs.
Bid Price—this comes from the Bid Price field on the Bid Price Tab in Item Maintenance.
Primary Unit—this comes from the Primary Unit field on the Bid Price Tab in Item Maintenance.
Quantity Per Primary Unit—this comes from the Quantity Per Primary Unit field on the Bid Price Tab in Item Maintenance.
The Qty Per Unit field will not update if the item being imported already exists. If the Import has the Qty Per Unit field mapped, a message displays below the grid: ‘***Qty Per Unit will only apply to new items’.
Secondary Unit—this comes from the Secondary Unit dropdown list on the Bid Price Tab in Item Maintenance.
Vendor Number—this comes from the Vendor ID field on the Administration: Vendor Setup screen.
These must be entered in the Import file exactly as it is in Vendor Setup.
Vendor Description—this comes from the Vendor Name field on the Administration: Vendor Setup screen.
Do not use special characters (i.e. $. /, ‘, etc.) in the Excel (.csv) file. This may cause the import to be unsuccessful.

You can also import the following *OPTIONAL* fields:
Select Yes or No in the Does the first row contain header information? line.
If No is selected, the first line of the Import file will import.
If Yes is selected, the first line of the Import file will not import, and instead will be used as header information.
The line will show in the File Preview grid regardless.

If the file format is correct, you will get a preview screen with all the column headings set to Skip.
